ERAS  Minutes Oct 28, 2010 at Chapel Park at 7PM

Denny introduced our Guest Speaker, David Higgins – Associate Professor of Art at CCC where he teaches painting, drawing and graphic design. He is also director of CCC’s Atrium Gallery which exhibits work of regional and national artists.   He is represented by West End Gallery and The Caffery Gallery in Baton Rouge.  He discussed a slide presentation of his  beautiful oil paintings done  while on sabbatical in Louisiana. He entertained many questions and was a very much appreciated presenter.  His website is DavidHigginsArt.com or DHIGNZ.com

The regular meeting began at 8:20

 

1.      Directory – available, sign the list and Tess distributed.  Correction to Dr Wahlig address: it should be 60 E Fifth ST Corning

 

2.      Membership - Delores presented 2 new member, Doris Vaughn and Dona Saltzgiver

 

3.      Workshops - suggested were Ron Dixon for drawing and Tom Gardner

 

4.      Exhibits - Jeannine – all is well, the sign up calendar is available for this year

a.      Gemeiner Show will be in July, we will need a theme by spring

b.      March Exhibit with the Women in the ARTS at Trinity Church at the Labyrinth will be

11-4 “Circle of Artists’ will  be the title

 

5.      Palette Show -  ** delivery time will be 10-1 on Nov 18th & 19th  

-Teresa will have a signup sheet for food at the next meeting,

-The reception will be December 2nd at 5:30 and the awards  presentation at 6:30 

- the question of celebrating our 75th Palette Exhibit, ideas

-        A slide show of photos from over the years on a digital frame

-        A plaque presented to the museum

-        Noting our famous artists from over the years

-        The AAM will display a special banner

-        If anyone able to contribute to these with their talents that would be most appreciated!!

 

6.      Membership to the Arnot ART Museum is very much encouraged – several of our members traveled to the Fenimore Museum in Cooperstown

and paid no entrance fee because of the reciprocal agreement their AAM membership provides. 

There are 21 other museums in NYS that share this agreement. 

ERAS wants to maintain our strong connection to the Arnot Art Museum.
