Minutes of ERAS Nov 7, 2007

Arnot Art Museum

In attendance; D Aldrich, R Coover, T Dannaher, B Doty, B Gallagher, P Gallagher, A Goyette, C Holtz, B Kent, D Morgan, R O’Neil, J Satterlee, J Sonsire, D Woodhouse, Doree Tanner

The meeting was called to order by VP Ray Coover at 7 PM

1. Jackie Satterlee suggested we start with the program so they would be able to get on the road back to Ithaca at an earlier time – everyone approved.

2. Jackie introduced the presentation "Brillant colors"  by Elisabeth Gross-Marks  

She grew up in Munich Germany with formal schooling in the arts.  She brought a delightful selection of her work and took us through a historical tour,
 from some of her earliest works to those that are very current. 
We enjoyed her  presentation; with a wide variety of colors, materials, interactive, collage and sculpture.

3.Rick Pirrozzola gave on update on the museum

            they are ready for the Palette Awards

            they have had over 600 classes from the Elmira schools visit the museum

they are looking for a new staff person to be at the front desk from
            9:30 to 2:30 Tuesday through Friday if anyone is interested or knows
           someone – this is a paid position – call Rick at the Museum

Volunteers are also needed

They would like a staff member to attend our meetings – with our consent to keep us up to date

4.Ray Coover reminded everyone that it would be a great idea to support and join or

            renew as a member of the Arnot Museum

5.Minutes of the last meeting accepted, moved by C Holtz and seconded by Diane Woodhouse

6. Dean asked Doree to write a formal letter to Dale requesting the directory booklet. J

7. Doree suggested a donation in Ryerson’s memory from ERAS to the museum. $100 donation will be made,
    moved by J Sonsire, seconded by D Morgan, voted unanimously to approve.

8. Treasurer’s Report by Dean :   Savings  $ 2153.77      Checking  $ 1735.76

9.  Tess’s reminder of Palette Award :  drop off Nov 15 & 16 10

    Dec 2 – please bring an appetizer to pass, beverages will be provided by the group.

10.   Tom Gardner’s workshop was a success and had a profit of $55 going to ERAS. After discussion a motion to donate $30 to Chapel Park for use of the facility was made by Corky and seconded by Delores.

11. Doree shared information on the teaching mirror- prefer 4’x6’ and portable so that programs at the museum or at chapel can benefit. Donations have been offered $150 to help cover the cost which could be $692 + shipping.  Brian Doty offered to explore getting the materials and possibly  making one.

12. Jackie mentioned the suggestion brought up by Connie that some members find it difficult to attend in the winter or driving at night that we might have some programs during  on a Sunday afternoon next year during the winter months.  She will post a question for input in the newsletter or on the discussion page of the web site.
